《The Legal Service Network for Foreigners》

Foreign residents in Hokkaido can have a legal consultation with lawyers on matters such as employment, resident status, citizenship, international marriage or divorce, housing, and so on. English/Chinese-speaking lawyers may be available.

(1) How to apply

The application must be made through the Sapporo Help Desk for Foreign Residents (011-211-3678). After you have made an application, an attorney will contact you about the consultation date/time/place.

(2) Charge

-Legal consultation：Only the first consultation is free.

-Separate charges apply in case of acting as a proxy.

《Sapporo Bar Association "Specific-Fields Lawyer Referral Service for cases involving foreign nationals"》

This is a legal consultation service on issues related to status of residence, family issues such as divorce, alimony and child custody, employment issues such as dismissal and unpaid wages, and other legal issues related to the lives of foreign nationals (except for criminal cases).

Consultations are conducted in Japanese basically, but attorneys who speak English or other foreign languages may be available.

*If your income is less than certain standard, you can use assistance provided by the Japan Legal Support Center and pay on easy payment. Please ask the attorney for details.

Consultations are available in Japanese, English and Chinese.
